How to Create a Sign-Up page in Canvas
If you want a low-tech way to have students sign up for presentation topics, consultation time slots or other activities, you can use a Canvas page in your course.
How To
- Add a page into the module for the week students should sign up [How to Links to an external site.]
- Provide instructions on the purpose of the sign up sheet (see example below)
- Provide instructions to students on how to edit the page
To sign up, click EDIT on this page, add your name to one of the slots below, then click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page.
- Add a table to the page with the required number of rows and columns [How to Links to an external site.]
- Under Edit Options, select "Teachers and Students" from the dropdown menu [How to Links to an external site.]
- Click checkbox next to "Add to student to-do" and set a due date.
- Save and publish page
Example
During Week 5 you must schedule a project consultation slot to review your work on the project so far and revise your project plan if needed. Choose one of the available time slots. Only one group per slot - first come, first served!
To sign up, click EDIT on this page, add your group name to one of the slots below, then click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page.
