Just Keep Teaching
This site provides resources to support you in a quick flip to remote teaching. Jump to the resource descriptions below for how to get the most from this site.
We are entering uncharted waters for the school. We are a hands-on school that suddenly needs to go online. But don't fear--you have guides who have sailed these waters before and can help you out. Some of you have sailed through the waters of online teaching before and have an idea of how to get to the other side. But others have only taken a short day cruise or played at the beach. The resources here can help the greenest sailor take to the seas, or provide new directions to an old sea dog.
The first thing you need is your vessel, the good ship Canvas. Canvas Basics will help you prepare your ship for the voyage ahead. It is also a resource manual when you hit choppy waters or just want to double check your navigation chart.
Think of your course learning goals as islands. There are different routes you can take to each island. Flip Your Classroom will explore the different routes--such as on-line lectures, group activities, student presentations--and show you examples, the tools to use, and tips to make it easier.
You need to keep your crew together during the voyage. Engage Your Students provides ideas and resources on engaging and communicating with students remotely.
We also have a Resource module with guidance, tips, and handouts for tools like Zoom and Kaltura. When you are almost ready to launch, check out the Countdown to Week 0 module for checklists to make sure you are ship shape and ready to go.
So take a deep breath and sing along with Dory, "Just keep teaching. Just keep teaching."
