Navigating Kaltura Video Chapters
Video Chapters
Video chapters enable a viewer to move to specific parts of a video. Using chapters is recommended when a video is longer than 6-10 minutes. Research tells us that a viewer becomes distracted after 6 minutes. Chaptering a video allows you to easily navigate to specific topics in a longer video and facilitate your video viewing and reviewing--and hopefully make the video more productive.
Accessing the Menu
How do you do you use video chapters as a viewer? Start by viewing the video in full screen and and opening the Navigation Panel
(see image below). The 3 line menu icon
located in the upper left of the video toggles the navigation panel open and closed. You can skip to a specific chapter by scrolling through the thumbnails or Chapters
on the left. If you are reviewing the video and want to skip to a specific section you can also type in a chapter title in the Search field
. Note: if you have questions or if the technology is not working for you get help from Canvas and the NEIT Online Learning team.
