Types of Content: Overview
What are the Types of Content?
There are several Types of Content you can add to your course modules. This includes Files, Pages, Assignments, Discussions, Text Headers, and Quizzes. All types (except for text headers) can contain text, video, images, weblinks, files, and more. Text Headers can only contain short titles.
Why Use Them?
Using different Types of Content creates an easy to use and engaging online classroom. Just like you use readings, assignments, quizzes, and discussions in your on-ground class, you can do the same in your online one.
Each type of content has a different use and features. For example, Discussions are used when you want your students to have an online written discussion. Assignments are used when you want your students to turn in/submit work online. Pages are used to hold content, but cannot deliver an assignment or discussion. Why? Pages don't have the submit or reply feature. The bottom line--use the right tool for the job at hand.
