Make Announcements

Announcements are course-wide written communications that you broadcast to your entire class. If you want to communicate with individual students, use your NEIT email. If you are using the Course Template: #JustKeepTeaching, the three most recent Announcements will appear on the top of the homepage. All of your announcements during your course will be available in your course's announcements section. Students also have a choice of receiving your Announcements via their NEIT email or mobile device.

Using Announcements allows you to keep your students informed and respond with timely updates. Just like you would in your on-ground classroom, you can announce general class updates such as a reminder about an upcoming exam or changes regarding an assignment due date. 

You can also use Announcements to increase engagement and build community in your online classroom. When students hear from you in a meaningful way, they are more likely to engage and learn. You'll explore how to use announcements to manage your online classroom in the Level 3: Engage Your Students module.

Make a welcome Announcement and then continue to use this feature to manage your online classroom and keep in touch with your students.
