What is a Course Template
What is the Course Template?
The Course Template is a reusable Canvas framework that you can use to set up your online classroom. It has a simple design that includes:
- An informative homepage that greets your students.
- One module for your syllabus and course resources.
- Ten weekly modules (weeks 1-10) for your content.
The template is named Course Template: #JustKeepTeaching and can be copied over to you without effecting its framework (hence reusable!). Once you have a copy of the template, you have full control to work in it; however, your students will not have access to it without your permission. Your students can enter and interact with your online classroom only after you open the 'doors' or publish it.
Why Use One?
Using the Course Template is a win/win situation for you and your students. Starting with it helps you establish a well-organized ship that invites your students/crew to come aboard and sail with you on this learning voyage. The Course Template helps you organize what, when, and how you want to teach. You will be able to manage your course and teaching logistics just like you do in your on-ground classroom.
Your students will also benefit from the Course Template. The ten weekly module format (our students think in weeks, not topics) makes your online classroom easier for them to use. Your students will be able to find your material, submit assignments, have discussions, be aware of due dates, and take quizzes/exams.

- ❑ Modules: This is the area that contains the organization for your syllabus, course resources, and ten weeks of material. There are empty placeholders in the template, but once you have a copy, you can add your content items (files, pages, assignments, discussions, and text headers). Just like building a lego structure, you'll add one piece at a time. For more about Modules visit the Canvas Guides Links to an external site..
