How to Use The #JustKeepTeaching Template
Introduction
The template was created by Canvas and customized for NEIT by the Online Learning Team. Copy all or part of the template to your current Canvas course or explore the template for inspiration and models. When going online we recommend as a baseline using the Homepage centralizing your course overview, how you will communicate with your students and Quick Links to weekly content, Help, and Student Guides. As always email Online Support onlinesupport@neit.edu if you need help adding any of the content in the template to your course.

Find the template
Use the Direct Link
Use the link that was distributed to faculty by email (link to the #JustKeepTeaching Template), if you are already logged into Canvas the link will work. Note: we recognize the irony of putting this link into the template itself--since you have to already be here to use it!
On Your Dashboard
The template is set up as a public Course. Here are the steps to accessing a public course in Canvas.
- Select the Canvas Courses Button on your left navigation bar.
- Select All Courses from the menu. Note if you are enrolled in many courses you will need to scroll down. The All Courses link is located at the bottom of this menu.

Copying the Template
Congratulations you made it and have found the #JustKeepTeaching Template. Feel free to explore it and decide what you want to copy to your course. Note: in addition to exploration it was important to find the template because you will use the title of the course when you are ready to copy from it. Follow the steps to copy all or parts into your Canvas course.
- Start from the Canvas course you want to add content to. When you are in your course elect Settings from your course left navigation menu.
- Select Import Course Content from your right menu.
-
- This will bring you to the Canvas Import Content screen with the Select One dropdown menu.
Use the dropdown menu to select Copy a Canvas Course - The Copy a Canvas Course Menu will prompt you to search for the course you want to copy from. This is where you will add the exact title of the template--copy and paste it from here or the course home page. Paste Course Template: #JustKeepTeaching into the search field and select the course template from the return results listed in blue. From here you can decide if you want All content or Select specific content. If you select All content the entire template will be added to your course section WITHOUT deleting any of the current content in your course. If you do this and you have already structured your course in 10 week modules you will need to clean up by removing duplicate modules and pages you do not want to use for your course.
- If you Select specific content you will be brought to an overview --the bird's eye view--of all the content in the template. This walk through will focus on selecting specific Pages. You will be able to choose what you want to copy from this menu. Select the arrow to view the inventory of content.
for each type of content --Modules, Assignments, Quizzes, etc. Note: this view indicates how many of each type are in the template.
- Once you have used the arrow to open up the inventory
you will be able to check off which pages you want to import and they will be added to your course. The Home Page (the course home page), Overview ToDo List, Wrap-up and Looking Ahead, Get Help and Zoom Resources are the pages selected / depicted here.
Once you have copied what you want you will need to put the content into place within your own course. See these Canvas Help guides to do just that!
