Week 3 Blood Vessels: Wrap-up and Looking Ahead

Wrap-up
By now, you should be comfortable describing the differences between arteries and veins and be able to identify major blood vessels
By this point in the course, you should be comfortable with the course structure, and be able to locate all of the necessary materials that you need to complete your coursework. If you are still having trouble with adapting to online learning, please reach out to me or to your classmates. I want to hear from you how things are going, so please make sure that you chime in on this week's Discussion Board.
Looking Ahead
Next week has a little bit of this and that. In lecture, we will be moving on to the lymphatic and immune systems, but in lab, we will finish off our study of the cardiovascular system by learning about EKGs or electrocardiograms.
Our lab activities will focus on understanding how to read an EKG, and builds on what we have already learned about the conduction system of the heart during Week 2. Please review those materials if you need a quick refresher.
In lecture, we will be discussing the lymphatic and immune system. Both of these systems are tied very closely to aspects of the cardiovascular system since they also function in the protection of the body and transportation of materials around the body.
To prepare for next week, you should download and print the powerpoints for the Lecture Module on Lymphatic and Immune System and skim through Chapters 20 and 21 of your textbook.
