Wrap-up

This week we have covered the key structures and functions of blood and talked about its components. We have learned the composition of plasma, the amounts different cellular components and how to identify them microscopically. We have learned about the processes of hemostasis, hematopoesis and blood typing.

Make sure that you have completed all of the required activities including the Pre-lab assessment and the Post-class Assessment and completed your lab exercises to turn in next week.

Looking Ahead

Next we're going to be working on the structure and function of the heart. We will discuss the layers of the heart walls, and how blood flows through the heart. We will talk about the three circuits through which blood flows, the pulmonary, the systemic and the coronary circuits.

Prepare for next week by downloading the powerpoints for the lecture and skimming through Chapter 18 in your textbook.
